About the role

This role will prepare designs to assist in developing ideas generated by engineers, designs products and equipment, and will be responsible for producing safe, technically accurate and cost effective equipment designs.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Project Leader, Senior Designer or Design Engineer in selection of the simpler components and the design details for inclusion in the project/product design.
  • Layout and design specific areas as assigned per the Company procedures and standards.
  • Design general arrangements or base systems based on customer needs and requirements.
  • Analyze data to determine feasibility of product proposal.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout with detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Review work order and procedural manuals to determine critical content.
  • Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production processes.
  • Assist in systems development as required, such as drafting standards, parts list systems, computer programming.
  • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed 3D solid models using CAD software for new product concepts.
  • Produce accurate 2D engineering schematics, drawings, and BOMs from 3D models.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional R&D teams to iterate designs and resolve technical challenges.
  • Work independently and create new designs with minimal input. Own designs from concept development and meet all customer requirements.
  • Ensure all releases meet company quality standards and global manufacturing requirements.
  • Maintain design documentation and version control in accordance with NOC standards.
  • Lead design reviews, provide feedback on manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience creating 3D models and 2D drawings in an R&D environment.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to think quickly under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities across global locations.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to high‑quality deliverables.
